Memento

For this project, I chose to examine a memory of mine in which I got pregnant and then, I had my babies.
This event represents the most important of my life. I was completely happy. I want to represent this wonderful moment, so incomparable with other symbolizing both my pregnancy as the birth of my two precious treasures, my two babies.
I decided to minimize the following materials: Sequins, Light and glue.
White sequins: I wanted to make the representation of my stomach during pregnancy and my two children. White and bright sequins chose to represent the precious and special moment.
Glue: it represents the placenta as an important part in the process of pregnancy.
The light: represent how important was that moment to me.

Personal Response to Susan Stewart

The Body is the primary mode of perceiving scale

The scale give us our perceptions of objects in life.
In this picture the hand, appears larger than the tower.
However in real life the viewer knows the tower is much
larger than any hand.

Capacity of objects to serve as traces or authentic experience is in fact, exemplified by the souvenir. The souvenir distinguishes experiences.

The mask of Venice every time I see it has the ability
to remind me of the wonderful experience when I
visited this place for the first time.

The souvenir reduces the public, the monumental and the three dimensional into the miniature, that which can be enveloped by the body.

I don't have the habit of collecting miniatures but if it did
I would love to do it with perfumes since each fragrance
reminds me a moment special and different i.e. leads
me to live past experiences just to smell them.

Nostalgia can not be sustained without loss

It is impossible to stop remembering
my grandmother Carola and not to feel
nostalgia.Have not had the fortune to
enjoy it much as Grandma already died
very young.

To have a souvenir of the exotic is to posses both a specimen and a trophy

The souvenir in the form of snake I cant see it already
that his image is associated with a negative experience that
comes to mind.

The place of the origen must remain unavailable in order for desire to be generated

The bottle with sand of Punta Cana directly reminds
me of the place to visit.

Soap Changes

Cut off the legs.

Took away a leg.

Added some water and boiled.

Added blue food coloring.

Stabbed it in with a fork.

Added glitter and glue.

Added pink food coloring

Melted soap then, put in a mold to make chocolate.

Cut it off into small pieces, smushed it, and added sticks.

Freezer for an hour or so.

I added clay and paint.

Response to Janine Antoni

Response to Janine Antoni

“loss and Desire” by Janine Antoni
Janine Antoni, uses his own body as subject and object of their works. Gnawing, spitting, licking, cleaning, blinking, are some of their actions corporals. Are some of the body actions she turns into sculptural processes to create work.
It is very interesting how the artist uses materials of daily use like soap, lard, dye for hair, chocolate. They are all materials that come into contact intimate with the body and to redefine the context of our culture.. I think the artist influenced by the 1970s, the artist Antoni feminist art, explores the feminist with her guts: acting with her own body in a obsessive way. His work shows the complexity of female eroticism, the wishes and dreams of women.
